Description

Sole Source for Vaisala DRD11A Rain Detector for HCN project. The U.S. Department of Commerce, NOAA/OAR/ARL/ATDD, plans to negotiate on a sole source basis, in accordance with FAR 6.302-1, with Vaisala, Inc. to provide forty (40) Model DRD11A Precipitation Sensors. The requirements for the precipitation sensor include: A heated sensor plate to melt solid precipitation; Low power consumption (less than 300mA); Operate on DC power; Output from the sensor must be able to determine the onset and cessation of a precipitation event within 5 minutes of the true time, and have a logic Rain ON/OFF output in the 1 to 3 volt range; Ability to estimate rainfall intensity. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received by closing date will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government to not compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Evidence must be provided of ability to provide the required system. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation. No written solicitation will be issued.
