Description
Research is being conducted between the Engineering Research and Development Center (ERDC) and the US Air Force Air Combat Command as part of the Critical Runway Assessment and Repair (CRATR) Joint Capability Technology Demonstration (JCTD). Under this demonstration, the ERDC is assisting in performing three key activities to demonstrate, improve upon, and ultimately field various solutions for rapid airfield damage repair (ADR). The research performed under the Small and Large Crater and the Advanced Airfield Damage repair projects at the ERDC (2006 and 2007) demonstrated that Rapid Set Concrete Mix offered the best alternative capping small and large crater repairs when compared to other rapid-setting concrete materials. Rapid Set Concrete Mix was the only material investigated that meets all specifications for laboratory experiments. Field mixing specifications required that the material be a rapid-setting concrete mix that only required the addition of water without additional aggregates to produce the product. Testing period will be conducted at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida beginning July 2009. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. No RFP will be issued based upon this Notice of Intent. Interested parties may submit any information for consideration by the Government to Markeda.L.Mims@usace.amry.mil with solicitation number referenced in the subject line. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:00 CST on 10 July 2009.
