Description
The U.S. Geological Survey has a requirement for the following spread-spectrum radio transceivers:33 each, FreeWave Model FGR-PlusRE spread-spectrum radio transceiver. 900 MHz frequency band4 each, FreeWave Model HT-Plus spread-spectrum radio transceiver, 900 MHz frequency bandThese spread-spectrum radios operate in the unlicensed 900 megahertz ISM band and will be used to connect seismic data acquisition systems located in remote areas to communication trunks. The radios specified here provide the high data rate (up to 867 kilobaud) and long-range transmission specification (up to 60 miles) needed for this application, and more importantly, are compatible with the other radios already operating within the network. Additionally, they provide both serial RS-232 and Ethernet data transmission in a single package.USGS has made a substantial investment in FreeWave radios, and wishes to purchase equipment that is fully compatible with its existing equipment. As such, it is the intent of USGS to purchase FreeWave radios to fulfill this requirement. No solicitation will follow this announcement. Comments may be made to Dick Paprocki, Contract Specialist, at (916) 278-9327 or rpaprocki@usgs.gov.
