Description
Concerns having the ability to furnish the services and supplies described herein are requested to give written notification, including the name and telephone number of a point of contact, to the Contract Specialist listed in the announcement. The U.S. Geological Survey, Central Region, Geologic Division, Denver, Colorado has a requirement for the maintenance service for JEOL USA, Inc scanning electron microscope JSM-5800LV CLD Catholdouminescence unit/ noren eds unit/pcd probe current detector/R033 water chiller, and JXA-8900 Scanning Microprobe for base year and four option years. The contractor must have local, JEOL factory-trained service engineers with specified training for the microscopes. There shall be a minimum of two local factory trained service engineers with specific training for the 8900 Electron Microprobe as well as other factory trained engineers that can be brought in if the normal (regional) service engineer(s) are unavailable. In addition, it is critical to have the most immediate access possible to JEOL replacement parts when needed. There shall also be direct communication with and cooperation from the JEOL factory in Japan when necessary for issues such as software maintenance and software upgrades. Based on the information available at this time, and in accordance with 41 USC 253(c)(1), implemented by FAR 6.302-1, the Government considers the supplies and services specified as a sole source from JEOL USA, Inc, Peabody Massachusetts and proposes to negotiate a contract with this company on that basis. However, should additional sources be identified, they will be considered. Firms who feel they can furnish the required services and supplies or its functional equivalent (based on the criteria specified herein) are invited to submit, in writing, an affirmative response to this announcement. An affirmative response would include literature, brochures and other such materials which correspond to the required services and supplies stated herein. This information will be evaluated and used to determine if competitive opportunities exist. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL, No solicitation document exists. Therefore, requests for such documents without accompanying information will be considered non-responsive to this request without further consideration. This notice may represent the Government's only official notice of this procurement.
