- Description
- RECOVERY--The work is to be performed at the Mahoning Dam. The Mahoning Dam project is located on the Mahoning Creek Lake, in Kittanning, Pennsylvania. The general description of work is to furnish all equipment, labor, layout of work, and supervision to replace the existing heating and air conditioning systems in the Administration Office and Storage Building at Mahoning Dam. The scope work shall be separated into two different scopes, one for the Administration Office Building and one for the adjacent Storage Building. The scope for the Administration Office Building consists of demolishing the existing heating and cooling system and replacing it with a system of similar capacity. The demolition of the existing system consists of removing and disposing the existing propane furnace, condensing unit, refrigerant lines, thermostat and drainage piping. The new work consists in the installation a new liquid propane furnace, a cooling coil and an outdoor heat pump unit. Connect the existing liquid propane tank and piping system to supply fuel to the new propane furnace system. The existing supply and return ductwork system and flue piping shall be reused and adapted to the new equipment layout. Unless otherwise noted, all materials and equipment provided in the performance of this contract shall be new. Materials and equipment removed under this contract shall become the property of the contractor and shall be disposed of in accordance with all federal, state and local laws. The scope for the Storage Building consists of demolishing the existing heating system and replacing it with the same system specified on the Administration Office Building. The demolition phase for the existing system consists of removing and disposing the existing coal/oil furnace in its entirety except for the ductwork system, capping the existing oil lines and plugging the existing flue piping penetration opening. The new work consists on installing a new liquid propane furnace, a cooling coil, an outdoor heat pump unit and a 500 gal propane tank. The existing supply and return ductwork system shall be reused and adapted to the new equipment layout. Provide concrete pads to level and support the new propane tank and heat pump system. Concrete pads dimensions shall extend 6 in each direction over the size of the equipment being supported. Unless otherwise noted, all materials and equipment provided in the performance of this contract shall be new. Materials and equipment removed under this contract shall become the property of the contractor and shall be disposed of in accordance with all federal, state and local laws. The new equipment shall be covered by a one year warranty on parts and labor and a manufacturers standard warrantee. Electrical work: The Contractor shall provide the required electrical circuits for the furnaces and the outdoor heat pumps. For the administration building, the Contractor shall provide new circuit breakers as required. Breakers shall match the existing panel. The new breakers shall replace the existing breakers that are used for the existing furnace and heat pump. In the storage building, provide a new panelboard to replace the existing obsolete subpanel. Breaker/circuit size for the furnaces and heat pumps shall be sized in accordance with the manufacturers recommendation of the approved units. The Carrier models referenced above will require a 15amp/120v circuit with #12awg wire for the furnace and a 35A/240V circuit with #8awg wire for the heat pump. A 60amp, NEMA 3R disconnect switch is required to be wall mounted near the outdoor units. Minimum wire and conduit size shall be #12awg / 3/4conduit respectively. All electrical work shall conform to and satisfy the requirements of the latest edition of the National Electrical Code (NFPA-70). The period of performance for this procurement is estimated to be 120 calendar days after the contractor received the notice to proceed. Magnitude of the project is between $25,000 and $100,000. The Request for Proposal (RFP) will be issued approximately July 23, 2009, on-line only through Federal Business Opportunities (FBO); therefore, requests for hardcopies of the specification and drawings will not be honored.
