- Description
- PRE SOLICITATION NOTICE: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Pittsburgh Research Laboratory, Pittsburgh, PA has a requirement for mine lighting for simulated longwall gallery, to include luminaire, X/P, high efficiency, 12 inch cord, luminaire bracket mounts, cables, cable jumper, and enclosure with drawing. This requirement is solicited as a small business set-aside. The CDC intends to award a single Firm-Fixed-Price purchase order in accordance with FAR Part 13. The date of delivery is approximately two month after the date of award. Mine Lighting Requirements for Simulated Longwall Gallery at the Pittsburgh Research Center (PRL) The system must meet the requirements of 30 CFR and MSHA STE lighting requirements for a typical US longwall installation. The face geometry at the Pittsburgh Research Laboratory's Simulated Longwall gallery for this installation is as follows : 1. Maximum mining height : 13 ft 2. Minimum mining height : 7 ft 3. Roof Supports : 5 ft in width placed on 68 inch centers 4. Distance from coal face to walkway : 8 ft 5. Assume 25 face roof supports The listed face geometry must be illuminated to the requirements of MSHA's 30 CFR and verified with MSHA STE data with no greater than 20 lights. Lighting System Configuration Requirements : 1. The system architecture shall consist of all necessary high efficiency luminaires, luminaire mounting brackets, intrinsically safe cables and cable jumpers. 2. The power supply module will be provided by PRL with output power in the form of DC voltage less than 20 VDC with an output load current capability in excess of 7.5 amperes DC. 3. The intrinsically safe DC voltage is to be distributed to parallel connected luminaries. 4. The intrinsically safe power distributions cables shall be constructed of SOW style cord and employ field replacement connectors 5. The luminaries shall employ fluorescent lamp technology utilizing T8 fluorescent lamps. Given that the objective of this proposal is to provide a simulated longwall gallery with lighting that is representative of a typical US longwall installation, it is highly recommended that the proposal identify current installations on US longwalls. All equipment must be compliance with the applicable requirements of 30 CFR. MSHA evaluation of the system and its components must be complete with the applicable certifications and acceptances issued. Mine Lighting Requirements for Simulated Continuous Miner Gallery at the Pittsburgh Research Center (PRL) The system must meet the requirements of 30 CFR and MSHA STE lighting requirements. The face geometry at the Pittsburgh Research Laboratory's Simulated Continuous Miner gallery for this installation is as follows : 1. Maximum mining height : 13 ft 2. Minimum mining height : 7 ft 3. Entry width : 18 ft 4. Entry length : 60 ft The listed face geometry must be illuminated to the requirements of MSHA's 30 CFR and verified with MSHA STE data with no greater than 20 lights. All equipment must be compliance with the applicable requirements of 30 CFR. MSHA evaluation of the system and its components must be complete with the applicable certifications and acceptances issued. The complete solicitation document, and reference material, if applicable, will be available for downloading at www.fedbizopps.gov on or about July 24, 2009 and quotes will be due on or about August 7, 2009. No verbal or written requests for copies will be accepted. It is the responsibility of perspective offerors to stay abreast of additional postings regarding this solicitation at the FedBizOpps internet site. No government-wide notes apply. All vendors must be registered in the Central Contractor Registry (CCR) prior to an award of a federal contract.
