- Recovery Action: DUNS number 009214241 The additional funds provide for acceleration of the LUSI project to complete installation and commissioning of the X-ray Pump Probe, Coherent X-ray Imaging, and X-ray Correlation Spectroscopy. These instruments, together with instruments contained within the Linac Coherent Light Source project, address major science areas, including; the fundamental interaction of intense x-rays and basic constituents of matter, atoms and molecules; the study of dynamic processes in molecules and condensed matter systems with atomic spatial resolution and sub-picosecond time resolution; imaging of non-periodic, nanoscale objects, including single bio molecules or small clusters, at near atomic resolution; and the use of x-ray photon correlation spectroscopy to observe dynamics in condensed matter systems over a wide range of time scales. Rationale for using other than a fixed price and/or competitive award: The contract action is a modification to the Department of Energy’s Management and Operating Contract with Stanford University for the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory.
