Description
This Pre-Solicitation Notice is being issued by the United States Army Corps of Engineers - Chicago District to inform interested HubZone Small Business Contractors of the District's imminent intent to issue an Invitation for Bids to obtain construction services for the Indiana Shoreline Erosion Control. PROJECT INFORMATION: The Indiana Shoreline General Design Memorandum (Apr 90) called for mitigation of erosion damages caused by Federal harbor structures at Michigan City and the restoration of shore processes at the eastern end of the national lakeshore. The beach nourishment project consists of sand placement of approximately 18,000 tons of clean beach grade sand from an upland source. The sand will be placed in a small berm along the beach to be washed away by wave action. In addition, the project will include sand monitoring activities such as aerial photography, material testing and on site measurement. Project will also consist of an 1800 ft haul road for site access after which it will be removed and restored back to existing conditions ACQUISITION INFORMATION : Competition for this acquisition is RESTRICTED to HubZone Small Business Concerns. The Classification Code for this procurement is North American Industry System (NAICS) 237990 with a small business size standard of $33.5M. The magnitude of cost for this construction project is estimated between $1M and $5M. The Invitation for Bids (IFB) Package will be downloadable from the INTERNET ONLY. The project specification files are Portable Document Format (PDF) files and can be viewed navigated or printed using Adobe Acrobat Reader. The IFB will be available at this Internet site on or about 27 July 2009. The due date for bids will be on or about 28 August 2009 at 2:00 pm CDT. In order for contractors to conduct business with the Department of Defense, the contractor must provide registration information to the Central Contractor Registration (CCR). Contractors can access the CCR for free at http//www.ccr.gov. The Government intends to award a firm-fixed price construction contract from this acquisition.
