Description
The U.S. Department of State currently has approximately 125 Thermo IdentifFinder, radioactive isotope identification devices, deployed at 112 select posts worldwide. These devices included a service plan which is expiring soon. This notice is for informational purposes only, as it is the Department's intent to renew the service plan for these devices so we can maintain optimal functionality of the units already deployed in the field throughout the year at the estimated price of $67,000.00 to Thermo Eberline LLC. Thus far in addition to the general calibration and inspection of detectors which this service plan includes, the current service plan has repaired over 30 damaged units in the past years. The replacement cost for these damaged units would have been approximately $360,000 without the service plan in place to cover these parts under warranty the Government might not have seen such exceptional savings over this time period. The unit cost to replace each IdentiFinder with a new or comparable unit is approximately $12,000.00 for each unit for a total estimated $1.5 million dollars. The estimated cost to re-deploy new units including the administrative costs of coordinating the re-deployment and any associated re-training costs that would have to be added is greater and would be millions of dollars. The existing devices in the field currently meet all needs, are in overall acceptable condition for use and it has been determined that renewing the service plan associated with these devices is more cost effective at this time then replacing the existing devices currently in use worldwide. THIS NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTE OR PROPOSAL, ANY INTERESTED PARTIES ARE ENCOURAGED TO CONTACT THE POINT OF CONTACT LISTED ON THIS NOTICE IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS. The Government will not reimburse any costs associated with interested parties responding to this notice or for any submittals of information that may be received by the Government in response to this notice.
