- The Government will be issuing a solicitation on or about July 25, 2009 for a Firm-Fixed Price Service Contract for the Kansas City District Corps of Engineers, Jackson County, Kansas City, Missouri. This service is for the curation of its archaeological collections generated from activities in the states of Kansas and Missouri. The requirements that must be met and the tasks that must be performed by a Contractor that will house, manage, stabilize, preserve, and provide access to archaeological materials and associated records. The collections total approximately 1,950.14 cubic feet of artifacts and 228.40 linear feet of records. However, the collections may be subdivided into collections of approximately 1056 cubic feet of artifacts and 79 linear feet of records; 752 cubic feet of artifacts and 30.2 linear feet of records; or 142.14 cubic feet of artifacts and 119.2 linear feet of records. These collections were generated in conjunction with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District, activities in Kansas and Missouri. 36 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 79Curation of Federally-Owned and Administered Archeological Collections --states in Section 79.6(b)(1) that when possible, the collection should be deposited in a facility/repository that (1) is in the State of origin, (2) stores and maintains other collections from the same site or project location, or (3) houses collections from a similar geographic region or cultural area. Additionally, 36 CFR Part 79.6(b)(2) recommends that collections should not be subdivided and stored at more than a single facility/repository unless such subdivision is necessary to meet special storage, conservation, or research needs. Finally, the two components of these collectionsmaterial remains and associated recordsshould be deposited in the same repository to maintain the integrity and research value of the collection, except in those instances where non-federally owned material remains are retained and disposed of by the owner (36 CFR Part 79.6(b)(3). The NAICS code is 712110 with a size standard of $7,000,000.00. Please note that to be eligible for award of this project; you must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) database at the CCR website which is www.ccr.gov. Additionally you must complete your Online Representations and Certifications (ORCA) at the ORCA website which is orca.bpn.gov.
