- Description
- The Olympic National Forest, Washington, intends to acquire by contract construction of one new, treated, timber trail bridge, 60 foot span. Work shall include: mobilization; clearing; grubbing; hazard tree removal; hand excavation; gabion abutment installation; and the supply and installation of a new trail bridge. All materials shall be provided by the contractor. Existing access trail is narrow and only comes within 90 feet of proposed bridge location. The existing trail is closed to stock use. An existing access road is within 125 feet of the bridge location. Construction of temporary access will be required. This project is located on the Hood Canal Ranger District of the Olympic National Forest, Section 8, Township 23 North, Range 4 West, W.M., near Hoodsport, Washington. Project site may be reached by traveling north on State Hwy. 101 from Olympia, Washington, to Hoodsport, Washington. At Hoodsport, take State Hwy. 119 northwest, approximately 9.5 miles, to the junction with Big Creek Campground. Turn right into the campground. The project site is in the back of the campground, just downstream of the original crossing, which was removed in 2008. Trail maps are available at Olympic National Forest information desks. Period for performance is from September 01, 2009, to November 01, 2010. Trail machinery, including motorized wheelbarrows, and heavy machinery are restricted to operation, which generates noise greater than 92 db, between 2 hours after sunrise to 2 hours before sunset, from April 1st to September 15th. Project Manager is Mr. Shannon Henriquez, 360-956-2264. The government will proceed to issue a solicitation as a Request for Proposals. This acquisition is 100 percent set-aside for small business concerns. Offerors will be evaluated on price, experience, and past performance. Contract award will be to the offeror whose offer, conforming to the solicitation, is the best value to the government. The government estimated value is between $50,000 and $100,000. No bid bond is required. If the contract price is equal to, or greater than, $100,000.00, performance and payment bonds are required for this project. If the contract price is less than $100,000.00, only payment protection is required. Davis-Bacon wage rates apply to any resulting contract. The proposed contract-type is firm-fixed price. This solicitation will be available on or about JULY 16, 2009. All responsible sources may submit an offer which will be considered by the government. In accordance with FAR 4.1102(a), prospective contractors must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) database prior to award of a contract. Lack of registration in the CCR on the part of the offeror will render an offeror ineligible for award.
