- The Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS), Bethesda, Maryland, intends to negotiate a contract, on a sole source basis, under the authority of FAR Part 13.106-1 (b), with AAHC (The Association of Academic Health Centers) for a membership renewal. The membership renewal is being procured as a commercial item in accordance with the procedures in FAR Part 12 (Acquisition of Commercial Items) and FAR Part 13 (Simplified Acquisition Procedures). The sole source determination is based on AAHC being the only organization to supply USUHS (Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences) with accreditation as an academic health center, which entails being an allopathic or osteopathic school of medicine, with at least one other health professions school or program, and at least one affiliated teaching hospital. Membership in the AAHC is essential in enhancing USUHS’ mission as the Nations Federal Health Sciences University that is committed to excellence in Medicine and Public Health during Peace and War. The period of performance for membership in the AAHC is July 01, 2009 through June 30, 2010. This is not a request for quote. However, all interested parties may contact the Contract Specialist listed below. Sources interested in responding to this requirement must be able to provide compelling evidence that they can provide accreditation as specified above. Responses must be submitted electronically, via email, to tosin.abari@usuhs.mil. The deadline for the submittal of responses is July 21, 2009, 1:00 pm Eastern Standard Time.
