Description
"THIS NOTICE IS PROVIDED FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY". THIS OPPORTUNITY IS AVAILBLE ONLY TO CONTRACTORS UNDER 8(A) MULTIPLE AWARD CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT, VARIOUS LOCATION,NAVFAC WASHINGTON This is an 8(a) competitive procurement to Grunley/ Goel JV LCC (N62477-06-D-0004), FEMCO, Inc. (N62477-06-D-0499), Donley-Kirlin JV (N62477-06-D-0498), and GDI/ Allen & Shariff JV (N62477-06-D-0500) Title: REPAIR ALARM SYSTEMS The work includes new fire alarm installations and incidental related work. There will be four new fire alarm systems (mirroring the existing fire alarm systems) in this project and the fire alarm system being installed in Building 9 to cover approximately half of that building under the BRAC project will be extended to the rest of the building. The new systems will serve: Building 1, Building 2/7/8, Building 4/6 and Building 10. Each system is being designed to meet NFPA 72, UFC and UFGS requirements. Buildings 1-8 will also have speaker placement which meets the UFC 4-021-01 performance requirements for mass notification, most notably the requirement for 0.8 intelligibility, not just the NFPA 72 requirement for audibility (15 dB over ambient noise levels). Each system will be stand-alone, however, the project also includes networking the systems together so that the status of current alarms can be read from any fire alarm control panel or annunciator panel in the complex. Fire alarm annunciator panels will also be provided at one or more entry point in some buildings per the request of the base fire department. This network is also extended to the base fire station to provide the required monitoring of all signals and emergency notification for fire department response. Each fire alarm system will utilize an audio-visual fire alarm notification system using a voice evacuation system which will include provisions for the use of the fire alarm speakers and strobes for mass notification. Performance period is estimated at 910 calendar days from date of award. The North American Classification System Code for this project is 236220. The RFP will be sent to NAVFAC Washington's 8(a) MACC Contractors Grunley/ Goel JW LCC, FEMCO, Inc., Donley-Kirlin JV, and GDI/ Allen & Shariff JV. The estimated release of the RFP is 20 July 2009. The time frame for receipt of proposals will be provided in the solicitation.
