- JOFOC Description Title: Lab Equipment, TF, BDT v.3.1 RR-5000 & Sequence Buffer NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announces its intention to negotiate a sole source follow-on award with Applied Biosystems. The CDC Agency currently have numerous Applied Biosystems that sequence the appropriate amplicon and generate valuable analytical data to continue the smooth operation of the agency's core sequencing laboratory. In order to determine the hepatitis virus genotype of patients infected with HBV and HCV, the DBT v.3.1 RR-5000 & Sequence Buffer performs sequencing for genotype and subtype determination and chain termination sequencing as performed with the needed reagents. To maintain consistent protocols that use materials and equipment, such as the BDT V.3.1 RR-5000, Applied Biosystems is the most reliable and provides the most reproducible test results to meet the agency's program needs. CDC intends to negotiate this requirement with HRET under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 and HHSAR 306.302-1, Only One Responsible Source, and 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1). This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination to compete this procurement based on a response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Interested parties who believe they possess the capabilities to satisfy this requirement should submit a capability statement demonstrating their abilities to meet this requirement. All responses should be received by the August 7, 2009, at 4 PM, Eastern Standard Time (EST). All responses must be in writing and can be sent via email to hrb5@cdc.gov or fax to 770-488-2868. No phone calls will be accepted.
