Description
CLARIFICATIONS & TIME EXTENSION Question 1: Part 2 of the Description states, Two 30-day data collection sessions occurred in two different seasons Additionally observer logging sites / source identification were recorded in accordance with section2.0 of the AASRMG. Is it correct to assume that there are four total 25-day sets of datatwo measurement sites with two sets of data supplemented by observer logs? If not, how many measurement sites are included in each session and ultimately how many 25-day sets will be included for analysis? ANSWER 1: Yes, four total sets of data as assumed Question 2: Is it possible to receive a copy of the NPS Natural Sounds Program ambient sound analysis software at this time in order to review prior to submitting our proposal? ANSWER 2: Yes, we can provide a fully functional test version for prior review. Question 3: How many monitoring sites? The solicitation explains that data was collected in two 30-day sessions and that there are two ORV areas. It does not specify whether there was more than one monitoring site in each ORV area. ANSWER 3: Measurements were collected over two sampling periods: November/December 2008 and February/March 2009. The park has lower activity in late fall, so the Nov/Dec measurements are representative of the park low-use or "quiet" condition. The Feb/Mar measurements were conducted during the Sand Drags event, which is representative of peak use. The first measurement range was from 12 Nov 2008 through 10 Dec 2008 and the second measurement range from 16 Feb 2009 through 19 Mar 2009. Five sites were selected for noise monitoring. Noise levels were measured via Larson Davis 831 sound level meters (SLM). Two sites were located in the Blue Creek region of the park and three in Rosita. Two of the sites (one in each region) had audio recorders capturing continuously. Weather stations, one in each region, were set to collect wind speed, wind gust, wind direction, temperature, relative humidity, and barometric pressure. The datum is WGS84. The proposal due date has been extended to 4:00 PM MDT on Monday, July 27, 2009.
