Description
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be issuing an Invitation for Bid for Maintenance Dredging of Green Harbor. The proposed work is unrestricted and involves maintenance dredging to remove approximately 50,000 60,000 cubic yards (cy) of primarily silt material from the 6-feet deep, inner harbor anchorage area and about 15,000 cy of sand and cobbles from the 8-feet and 6-feet deep, 100-feet wide entrance channel portion of the Federal navigation project. Maintenance dredging in the inner harbor area was last performed in 1983. The controlling depth in the authorized 6-feet deep anchorage area has been reduced to less than two feet MLLW. The entrance channel portion of the FNP was last maintained in 2007. The work will be performed by a mechanical dredge and attendant scows. Any material removed from the entrance channel will be placed in the previously used nearshore disposal area off Green Harbor Beach which is less than a mile from the harbor. Dredged material from the anchorage area will be disposed of at the Massachusetts Bay Disposal Site (MBDS) which is approximately 20 nautical miles (one way) from the harbor. Scows transiting to and from the MBDS will need to be certified by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS). The work will be performed from November 1st January 31st. The solicitation is issued on a unrestricted basis. The estimated cost of this contract is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. The NAICS code for this procurement is 237990 with a size standard of $20,000,000. The estimated issue date for this procurement on or about August 7, 2009. All interested contractors can download the Invitation for Bid at the Federal Business Opportunities website (www.fbo.gov). The due date for the bid will be stated in the solicitation. Requests for solicitation documents by telephone, e-mail or fax will not be honored. Instructions for bid submission will be provided in the solicitation.
