Description
The National Park Service seeks a qualified firm to perform feral pig control/eradication efforts at Pinnacles National Monument located in Paicines, CA. Background-In 1985 Pinnacles National Monument began construction of a perimeter fence to keep out feral pigs. The fence enclosing 14,500 acres was completed in 2003. Pig eradication efforts ensued from 2003 to 2006, creating a pig free zone within the enclosure. In the past decade Pinnacles National Monument acquired additional acres that include biologically rich wetlands, riparian areas and a campground. An extension of the feral pig fence on high priority areas of this expansion is important to preserve and maintain the health of native ecosystems. Once the pig exclusionary fence is expanded, protecting approximately 5,000 acres of new lands, pigs within the enclosure will need to be removed. Work will be performed under the guidelines provided by the Scope of Work/Specifications of the Request for Quotation (RFQ). Work will be conducted over consecutive months within 1-2 years. Efforts should be concentrated in the spring-summer months when natural food resources are more limited (March through October). The most effective method has proven to be a multiple capture trap that allows entire family groups to be caught. Other methods are outlined in the Scope of Work and must be strictly adhered to in performance of the work. The RFQ will be issued on or before July 30, 2009 and will close on August 20, 2009. The RFQ will be available by electronic means only and can be downloaded from either the FedBizOpps site at http://www.fbo.gov or directly from the Department of Interior website at http://ideasec.nbc.gov. Contractor's are responsible for periodically checking the website for any Amendments that may be issued prior to the closing date. This project is funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and the contractor must meet all reporting requirements as described in FAR 52.204-11. The Contractor shall report the required information using the online reporting tool available at www.FederalReporting.gov. This acquisition is unrestricted. The National Park Service will accept quotations from firms with at least 3 years of experience performing similar wildlife control projects.
