Description
Recovery - New Gateway Visitor Center & Headquarters "THIS NOTICE IS PROVIDED FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY. THIS OPPORTUNITY IS AVAILABLE ONLY TO CONTRACTORS UNDER THE U.S. FISH AND WILDLIFE SERVICE'S MATOC CONTRACT NUMBER 401818D504." RECOVERY-The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service contemplates entering into negotiations with one of our MATOC Design-Build contractors and to award a Firm-Fixed-Price Delivery Order for the design and construction of a new visitor center and administrative offices facility for the Coastal NC National Wildlife Refuges to be located at their headquarters site on Roanoke Island, NC. NAICS CODE 541310, Size Standard: $4.5 Million. TAS::14 2911::TAS. The Project Number is 97110122. The magnitude of this project is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. POC for this requirement is Walter D. Cowan, CCITE Contract Specialist, at (404) 679-4068. The Coastal NC NWRS Gateway Visitor Center and Headquarters facility will be approximately 17,840 SF and will be constructed on the north end of Roanoke Island, NC on a 35 acre parcel the Service purchased for this purpose. Due to the location, there is an extremely high potential for visitation. As a result, the expectation is that the new facility will serve as a "gateway" visitor center for all of the coastal North Carolina refuges and thus increase the visibility of and visitation to each of them. The new facility will be designed and constructed around the Service's standard large 2-Story Administration/Visitor Center plan. The modified plan will be further refined during the design phase. The Visitor Center will include a book store, exhibit space, an environmental education classroom, a multi-purpose room and exterior interpretive facilities. The Headquarters offices will be shared by approximately 30 Service employees. These personnel serve several Service programs including Alligator NWR, Pea Island NWR, Law Enforcement, Prescribed Fire, and the Ecological Services Red Wolf Recovery Team. The facility will allow the Service to vacate existing GSA leased space which will save over $120,000 annually. The facility will be LEED certified to the highest level practicable and will include water-saving elements i.e. rainwater harvesting, low-flow fixtures and grey water reuse. The facility will be very energy efficient and will reduce, by a minimum of 30%, the average energy costs of a building of its size. In addition, our goal is for at least 40% of the facilities energy needs to come from renewable energy sources such as solar and wind.
