What is this material going to be used for? For Axion to offer an adequate substitution, knowing the application would help to determine the best solution. Axion makes a 12" x 12" I-Beam. We believe that this piece would give you the same, or better, structural properties that you are looking for based on the piece you call out for in the ad. A1. The 12 x 12 plastic timbers are being used for guidewalls, basically a horizontal fender system, they are supporting their own weight along the face of vertical pilings. The timber must be solid for most secure fastening to pilings, I-Beam is not an acceptable substitute. Q2. Can substituted material be of a different size or length? A2. No Q3. What is the purpose of the 24' minimum length? Is this a span? Can material be spliced? A3. Material can not be spliced. 24' minimum is what the equal to or better company makes, they can be the same product from another manufacturer as long as they are a minimum 24', longer is better but can not be spliced. Q4. We make a 3" x 12" x 16.5' long. Is this acceptable as an alternate to the timber 3" x 12" in the scope? A4. As long as the 3" x 12" x 16.5' long timber is.80 CCA treated rough cut wood. Q5. For the timber pilings, what is the required butt diameter? A5. Class B dictates the butt diameter will be approximately 13" on average. Q6. What is the required delivery date for the material? A6. December 1, 2009 Q7. Can we have the material delivered in stages (partial order)? A7. Yes material can be delivered in stages as long as delivery is coordinated with Lock Master. Q8. Item 0003 - What CCA retention are you looking for on the timbers, 2.5..80. or.60? Also what grade of timber are you looking for #1 common or #2 common or a higher grade perhaps? A8..80, Grade #1. Q9. Item 0004 - What CCA retention are you looking for on the timbers, 2.5..80. or.60? Also what grade of timber are you looking for #1 common or #2 common or a higher grade perhaps? A9..80, Grade #1. Q10. Item 0005 - Are timbers rough finish like items 3 and 4 or are they S4S (SURFACE 4 SIDES)? Also, What CCA retention are you looking for on the timbers, 2.5..80. or.60? Also what grade of timber are you looking for #1 common or #2 common or a higher grade perhaps? A10. Rough like #3 & #4..80, Grade #1. Q11. Item 0006 - Are these piling treated to the same retention (2.5 CCA) as Item #8 or are they treated to a different retention, perhaps.80 CCA? A11..80 CCA
