Description
Medical Board Solicitation The objectives of this project are to determine the role that State medical advisory boards are playing regarding the re-licensing of impaired driving offenders, and develop case studies that describe practices, procedures and programs currently being used by State medical advisory boards for impaired driving offenders and drivers identified as having alcohol misuse problems. NHTSA anticipates that the case studies will be used by States interested in increasing the involvement of their MAB in licensing decisions of DWI offenders. The specific objectives of this project are: Determine the level of involvement MABs have in the licensing decisions of impaired driving offenders and drivers identified as having an alcohol misuse problem. Select State MABs with a highlighting a strong program and extensive involvement with DWI offenders to use as case studies. The case studies will be chosen based on certain factors such as geographic area, how long the program has been in operation, and which agency administers the program. Produce a report of the case study descriptions that will provide examples of procedures, challenges, and lessons learned.
