Description
THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT, NOT A REQUEST FOR A PROPOSAL. A SOLICITATION DOCUMENT WILL NOT BE ISSUED AND PROPOSALS WILL NOT BE REQUESTED. The National Park Service (NPS), Intermountain Region (IMR), intends to award a project for preservation work on the San Miguel Chapel, Santa Fe New Mexico. The project is being awarded in accordance with all requirements of the Challenge Cost Share program (CCSP), which is a program to increase participation by qualified partners in the preservation and improvement of NPS natural, cultural, and recreational resources in all authorized service programs and activities, both outside or inside park lands, and on national trails as defined under the National Trails System Act (16 U.S.C. 1241-51). The NPS and partners work together on CCSP projects with mutually beneficial, shared outcomes. The CCSP is a matching fund program. An equal amount of eligible and matching share of funds, goods, or services from non-federal sources is required. Currently, the maximum CCSP award is $30,000. Projects selected generally are able to be completed within one year. Operating under the authority of the 1935 Historic Sites Act (16 U.S.C. 461-67) and the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, as amended (16 U.S.C. 470 et seq.), the NPS administers the National Historic Landmark (NHL) Program, which provides for the identification, documentation, preservation, and interpretation of the nation's nationally significant historic buildings, sites, objects, structures, and districts. The NPS seeks to preserve the San Miguel Chapel, a contributing building within the Barrio de Analco NHL district. Funding for this project is being provided through the Challenge Cost Share Program (CCSP.) The San Miguel Chapel is the central resource of the Barrio de Analco NHL, and is one of the oldest religious buildings in the United States. Partially destroyed in the 1680 Pueblo Revolt, it was rebuilt by 1710. Native American archaeological remains, Spanish Colonial woodwork and historic paintings add to the chapel's historic significance. Cornerstones Community Partnerships (CCP), a non-profit organization based in Santa Fe, New Mexico works to preserve architectural heritage and community traditions in New Mexico and the Southwest. Youth partners in this project include students from St. Michael's High School, University of New Mexico, New Mexico State University, Satin John's College, University of Texas San Antonio and local young people and city residents. The building is owned by the Catholic Archdiocese of Santa Fe and the project is supported by the Catholic Archdiocese Foundation of Santa Fe who maintains the building. The sole source justification for this award is provided here as an attachment. If you have specific questions, or require clarification of this notice, please contact Kelvin Smalls, Contract Specialist, at (505) 988-6083, or e-mail me at kelvin_smalls@nps.gov.
