Description
RECOVERY - SEISMIC COMMUNICATION SYSTEM FOR COLLECTION OF DATA FROM REMOTE, UNMANNED SITES In compliance with the transparency and accountability requirements associated with the supplemental appropriations provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (the 'Act'), Public Law 111-5, this notice is provided for INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. The Department of the Interior, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), intends to modify Contract No.G09PC00028 with Hughes Network Systems, LLC., to include Act related provisions, which are incorporated into the contract via Modification 2. The requirement described below is within scope of the existing contract, which was originally awarded on a competitive basis. THIS OPPORTUNITY IS AVAILABLE ONLY TO THE INCUMBENT CONTRACTOR. Contract # G09PC00028, awarded December 17, 2008 with a base year and four one-year options, is for the procurement of satellite telemetry services and VSAT equipment for two-way communications between the Advanced National Seismic System (ANSS) and the National Earthquake Information Center (NEIC). This system provides for the timely relay of seismic data for the purposes of earthquake monitoring, information collection, and warning. The Place of Performance is at the Contractor's facilities in Germantown, MD. The ARRA funds will be used to purchase the VSAT equipment to upgrade existing stations estimated at approximately $40,000.00. Full or partial funding for requirements to be completed by the contractor may utilize funds provided by the Act. Inclusion of unique provisions required to implement the Act, including those for significant reporting and transparency requirements, will be incorporated into this contract by Modification 2.
