Description
RECOVERY--The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is soliciting for the Painting of the Lift Arms and Pedestal Repairs and Tide Gage Replacement. The work on the Painting Lifting Arms project consists of blast cleaning and painting portions of the lifting arms (two) for the navigation gate at the Stamford Hurricane Barrier in Stamford, CT. The lifting Arms are located on the sides of the navigation opening in the barrier, one on each side. They are constructed of approx. 16 inch diameter steel tubes with 1.6 inch thick walls. The arms are approx. 62 feet long and are partially submerged at all times. The portion for the arms to be painted for this project are the heavily corroded sections of each lifting arm. The remainder of the lifting arms or about 46 feet shall be spot painted in the limited areas where the existing paint system has failed. The work on the Pedestal repairs replacement of deteriorated of absent timber shims. Removal of any of the existing 4 timber shims shall be determined based on the result of the dive inspection. The existing shims are assumed and attached with side plates and bolts. All hardware will be hot dipped galvanized. Additional details will be provided in the specifications. The estimated cost of this procurement is between $100,000 and $500,000. This solicitation will be available on or about 14 August 2009 and will be available for downloading by accessing the Federal Business Opportunities website (http://www.fbo.gov). Neither telephonic, mailed nor faxed requests will be accepted. Registrants are responsible for the accuracy of the information on the registration list. This procurement is unrestricted. The applicable NAICS code is 237990 with a Small Business Size Standard of $33,500,000. All responsible sources may submit a bid which will be considered by the New England District.
