- Description
- The Following are answers to questions from interested firms. please note that at this time we are only looking for qualified applicants for interview. 1 Does the estimated construction range of $250,000-500,000 include expected design fees, or are those separate? Construction and design are separate. 2 "Ability to provide sign locations plans in AutoCAD." Do all drawings need to be in AutoCAD, or can they be done in other formats? Adobe Illustrator is much better when dealing with type layout issues. All drawings and files can be saved in pdf format. PDF is acceptable if more appropriate, but ability to provide AutoCAD files upon request would be important. 3 Is it part of the scope to include visits to the five Community Based Outpatient Clinics to review, evaluate and develop, if needed, their signs systems as well? Yes. Providing signs for these areas is part of the scope and will require at least one site visit to understand existing conditions and need. 4 Is the VA expecting two different sets of interior sign programs, one for wayfinding and one for life safety, code and regulatory signs, or can these be incorporated into one package? The project is to provide both wayfinding and life safety. It would be ideal that we would have a document that shows only the life safety and required signs for future reference separate from the wayfinding. 5 In developing the design scheme for interior and exterior signs, the VA has pretty specific guidelines for the look of the signs. Is the design scheme expected to follow the guidelines? For exterior signage, yes. For the interior, the guidelines should as strictly as feasible, however, creating an appropriate look or brand is desired. 5 Is there an estimated number of phases for fabrication? If so, over what timeframe? Will interior and exterior construction occur at the same time? There will be many phases, as installation will be completed as funds become available. A phasing plan should be submitted that includes the cost estimate. The appropriate division will be discussed at the pre-bid meeting. 6 If there are multiple construction phases, are pre and post walk-throughs expected for each phase? Yes. 7 Are all meetings to be held on site, or can meetings and some document reviews occur via teleconference? Teleconference is acceptable when appropriate. 8 The link provided for document requirements and guidelines does not work. Is there an alternate link? http://www.cfm.va.gov/til/spclRqmts.asp This page contains the signage guide, down the page. STACY what were the other links? 9 Our copy of the Program Guide PG-18-15C is dated November, 2008. Is that a useable document for this project? Yes, I believe that is the newest.
