- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England, is soliciting firms for the Repair Water Distribution System, at the Veterans Administration (VA) Center in Bedford, Massachusetts. The NAICS code for this project is 238220, size standard $14 million. The estimated construction cost is between $1 - $5 million. The contract is expected to be awarded by September 2009. The work involves replacement of the remaining unreliable distribution valves, installation of new valves in manholes or vaults to improve accessibility for maintenance and proper operation, demolition of the 1926 riveted elevated water storage tank and the 1948 welded water storage tank, and installation of new storage tank. The new storage tank shall include a new foundation. Work also includes installation of electrical service for interior lighting, service for cellular phone relay devices, metering, recording, controls and lightning protection. This solicitation will be issued as 100% set-aside for Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses. The estimated issue date for the solicitation is on or about August 14, 2009. Interested bidders can download the solicitation via the Federal Business Opportunities website (www.fbo.gov). The due date for the bid will be stated in the solicitation.
