- THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT, NOT A REQUEST FOR A PROPOSAL. A SOLICITATION DOCUMENT WILL NOT BE ISSUED AND PROPOSALS WILL NOT BE REQUESTED. It is the intent of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute to negotiate on a sole source basis with Illumina Inc., 9885 Towne Centre Drive, San Diego, CA 92121 to provide a service contract for Illumina BeadStation and LiHa Robot. The Illumina BeadStation and Liquid Handling Tecan Robot are very expensive and sensitive instruments used in tandem by the Genomics Core to perform SNP genotyping for investigators in NHGRI. The service contracts for these instruments include essential upgrades to the proprietary software. The continued functioning of the BeadStation and Tecan robot (Illumina) must be maintained to ensure accuracy. The Service contract includes troubleshooting routine problems and an annual preventive maintenance service. Illumina is the manufacturer of the equipment and the only provider for the desired services. This acquisition is being conducted under FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures, and is exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6, Competition Requirements. The North American Industry Classification (NAICS) Code is 334516 and the Size Standard is 500 employees. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed purchase order based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
