Description
This purpose of this modification is to add an additional topic area as follows. Secure end-to-end Service Oriented Architecture: The Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)-based architecture aims to provide agility, transparency, common services-level agreements, and service re-usability. While authentication and authorization of web-service payloads do not take place across intended end points in a SOA environment (i.e., between service consumers and providers,) termination and intermediate steps of service execution expose messages to hostile threats, such as man-in-the-middle attacks. This research will define and develop an edge platform security solution that: (a) provides a secure end-to-end message origin authentication for web service client requests and web service providers to ensure confidentiality and integrity - even in the presence of man-in-the-middle attacks; (b) leverages widely adopted WS-* standards (WS-Security, WS-Reliability, WS-Trust, WS-Interoperability) for enterprise Air Force systems that use Common Access Cards (CAC) and card readers; (c) delivers a fully functional and demonstrable prototype application/implementation based on an open source technology that can be easily integrated into existing government-off-the-shelf (GOTS) components in an operational environment; and (d) provides a single, consistent host based security mechanism to simplify the administrative security concerns of the web service consumers. The design should take into consideration the incorporation of Identity Metadata Interoperability - a very recent draft specification from the OASIS working group. The recommended date for white papers for this topic area is by 1 September 2009. DO NOT send white papers to the Contracting Officer. All white papers must be addressed to ATTN: Randall McIntyre, Reference BAA 05-06-IFKA, AFRL/IFSA, 525 Brooks Road, Rome NY 13441-4505. Respondents are required to provide their Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number with their submittal and reference BAA 05-06-IFKA. Electronic submissions to: Randall.McIntyre@rl.af.mil will also be accepted. CONTENT AND FORM OF SUBMISSION: Offerors are required to submit 3 copies of a 2 to 3 page white paper summarizing their proposed approach/solution. The purpose of the white paper is to preclude unwarranted effort on the part of an offeror whose proposed work is not of interest to the Government. The white paper will be formatted as follows: Section A: Title, Period of Performance, Cost of Task, Name of Company; Section B: Task Objective; and Section C: Technical Summary. Multiple white papers within the purview of this announcement may be submitted by each offeror. If the offeror wishes to restrict its white papers/proposals, they must be marked with the restrictive language stated in FAR 15.609(a) and (b). All white papers/proposals shall be double spaced with a font no smaller than 12 pitch. In addition, respondents are requested to provide their Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE) number, a fax number, and an e-mail address with their submission. All responses to this announcement must be addressed to the technical POC. No other changes have been made.
