- Description
- This Request for Information (RFI) is in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) clause 52.215-3 (Request for Information or Solicitation for Planning Purposes - Oct 1997) and is published only to encourage interested Commercial Business parties capable of providing technical support for use by the Cryptologic Systems Group (CPSG), Cryptographic Modernization Program Office (CMPO), Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, for planning purposes only. This RFI does not constitute an invitation for bids, a request for proposal, a solicitation, a request for quote or an indication that the government will contract for the items provided by submitter. The government will not reimburse respondents for any costs associated with the preparation or submission of the information requested. The Air Force CMPO is investigating improvements to the security of the SNMPv3 standard by incorporating National Security Agency (NSA) Suite B algorithms for message security. The SNMPv3 standard is considered the most promising alternative for remote operational management of high assurance encryption products. The fact sheet on NSA Suite B algorithms is located at:http://www.nsa.gov/ia/programs/suiteb_cryptography/index.shtml Suite B enhancements to SNMPv3 will be accomplished by finalizing the definition of the Datagram Transport Layer Security Transport Model [(D)TLS TM] for SNMPv3, which is currently under development by the Integrated Security Model for SNMP (ISMS) Working Group within the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). This (D)TLS TM will leverage the enhancements of the Transport Security Model (RFC 5591). The current (D)TLS TM Internet-Draft document is awaiting publication as a Proposed Standard through the IETF Request for Comment process, and is located at:http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-hardaker-isms-dtls-tm-05 For complete information see ROME RFI Word document under documents avialable for downloading.
