- NASA/GSFC plans to issue a notice for the following;RECOVERY ACT THIS NOTICE IS PROVIDED FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY. THIS OPPORTUNITYIS AVAILABLE ONLY TO THE CONTRACTOR LISTED UNDER THE WALLOPS INSTITUTIONAL CONSOLIDATEDCONTRACT (WICC), contract number NAS5-01080, which was competitively awarded in August2001 to The Cube Corporation doing business as VT Griffin, Building F-16, Wallops Island,Virginia, 23337. This was originally awarded under SIC code 8744 which converted to NAICS561210.The purpose of this synopsis is to establish the announcement of the constructionof a Horizontal Integration Facility (HIF) at NASA/GSFC/Wallops Flight Facility (WFF) onWallops Island, Virginia that is to be funded under the American Recovery andReinvestment Act (ARRA). This requirement will be procured by the WICC contractorthrough a separate task order(s). Work is being conducted in accordance with the ARRArequirements and subject to the Recovery Act reporting requirements outlined in FAR(Federal Acquisition Regulation) 52.204-11. The HIF is a 38,000 square foot facilitywhich will be used to support Medium Class ELV projects. The entire facility will beconstructed as a Pre-engineered Metal Building on a pile supported concrete foundationwith a floor rated at 250PSF. It consists of a 60 foot (Eave height) High Bay Area withapproximately 245 by 90 foot of interior floor space. The High Bays will have 3 doorswhich are over 25 feet wide and over 45 feet high. The operations in the High Bay will besupported by two bridge cranes spanning the 90 foot width with 45 foot Hook Heights.Lifting capacities of the Critical Lift cranes will be rated for 25-Tons and 70-Tonscapacity. Support Systems will include Fire Protection and Blast Protection Systems,Lightning Protection, Humidity & Temperature Control Systems, Compressed Air, SpecialElectric Power Systems, Explosion Proof Devices and Sniffers. Access ramps will beprovided to transport the vehicles into the elevated floor space. The High BayIntegration Area will be supported by approx. 14,000 square foot of crew support spacewhich will include areas for Warehouse Storage, Battery Storage, Lab Space, Restrooms,Break room, Communications, and Mechanical and Electrical Rooms. The period ofperformance for this project is from date of award to completion by September 30, 2010.The magnitude of the requirement is between $5,000,000.00 and $10,000,000.00.
