- This amendment to W52H09-09-T-VB02 is to: 1. To provide question/answer information. As follows: Q: You stated that explosion proof is not reqruied; however, you have an engine running in the chamber. How do you handle an accidental fuel leak or combustible vapors from igniting inside the chamber without these explosion proof safeties? A: We discussed this with the fire department and they recommend NEC Class 1, Division 1, wireing and fixtures, switches and lights making hte hcamber in affect explosion proof. For fuel spills we will use normal hazardous material spill clean-up procedures. ------------------------------------- Q: If explosion proof is not requried, do we have to provide an HC/CO detector? A: You do not have to provide HC/CO detectors. In discussions with the fire dept, they recommended providing a pre-assembled plumbing system in the corners of the chamber that the fire dept could connect to with standard fire protection hoses from the outside of the chamber. This would allow them to spray the inside of the chamber with water in the event of a fire without opening the doors. ----------------------------------------- Q: If in fact explosion proof is not required, does that mean the blow out ports in specification 3.3 is not required? A: In discussion with the fire department, we require the blowout ports. ----------------------------------------- Q: Are we responsible for supporting the 6000 pound forklift and the 4000 pound load or will this chamber be built on an insulated concrete floor? This will allow the forklift to drive into the chamber without the need for a ramp and the chamber would then not be provided with a floor. A: We envision the chamber coming with a floor and not relying on an insulated concrete floor, if the vendors can't produce that type of chamber we'll consider the concrete option. ------------------------------------ Q: Is the 4000 pound load new? The original specification calls out only a 1000 pound load. Which load should we use for temperature pull down calculations? A: 1,000 pounds will be the typical load and what you should base your calculations off of. On those occasions where we might be testing larger items, we will have to plan around the reduced performance.
