- FedBizOpps Special Notice: Global Network Enterprise Construct (GNEC) Update w/AC09 Lessons Learned Synopsis: The Armys Program Executive Office for Enterprise Information Systems (PEO EIS) GNEC Update with Austere Challenge 09 (AC09) Lessons Learned, originally scheduled for Thursday, 13 August, at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, has been rescheduled in conjunction with the AFCEA Augusta-Fort Gordon Industry DaysC4ISR/GNEC- Concepts to Reality&.Faster September 21 through 23, 2009. The purpose of this conference is to brief industry, both small and large companies, on lessons learned from the Armys AC09 Operation Evaluation Exercise, to demonstrate communications equipment and facilities used by soldiers in the field, and to hear first-hand from soldiers involved with C4ISR systems. Combining the GNEC lessons learned with the AFCEA Augusta-Fort Gordon Industry Days C4ISR focus will provide industry with a robust look at the challenges and issues soldiers currently face in theater as well as the technical challenges of implementing the global network. The AC09 Operational Validation (OPVAL) provided the Army an initial look at GNECs technical and user challenges. The exercise included simulated deployment of the 18th Fires Brigade with their data, information and services seamlessly transferred from their home station into a virtual deployed environment. The exercise provided several lessons learned in manpower, training, and organizational issues as well as technical issues such as data and application replication and virtualization, and bandwidth utilization. Lessons learned will be briefed from the perspective of the Program Executive Office for Enterprise Information Systems (PEO EIS), PEO Command, Control and Communications-Tactical (PEO C3T), NETCOM, and the 18th Fires Brigade. Following the briefings, attendees will visit the Network Service Center for Training; Battle Command Operations Center Training Facility; and the WIN-T Increment 1 facility. The C4ISR portion of the event will include panels of military individuals closest to the C4ISR issues in theater. The panels will include project officers from the US Army Signal Center Concepts Development and Integration Directorate (CDID) who will provide information on near and mid-term direction of the LANDWARNET and Global Network Enterprise Concept (GNEC). In addition, panels will consist of recent combat veteran NCOs assigned to the Signal Regimental NCO Academy and the 513th Military Intelligence Brigade, who will provide insights into their recent experiences in theater.
