- Questions and Answer #1 1. Do you have any kind of drawing on the layout of the building, showing where all the support beams would be located? Also, do you have a Utility Drawing that was listed on page 11, (3.1.12) There is a drawing that shows the building columns (45' centers) and some of the utility information. 2. Page 9 (3.1.7) Filtration for the Paint Booths. You have listed that the contractor shall utilize HEPA filtration for each booth. My question: Is this a typo? You are requesting HEPA Filters for the paint booths. HEPA Filters are used for dry dust control; they are not used for Paint Booths. Do you mean the three stage filter? Three stage filtration with the third stage meeting NESHAP 319 testing criteria 3. Do you require the contractor to furnish a ladder for access to the roof for the purpose of doing maintenance? The roof of the booth yes, the faculty roof no, any ladders need to access the equipment placed on the roof yes. 4. Do you require hand railing and cat-walks on the roof around the Air Make-up units, even if Air Make-up units have ground level access for maintenance? If there are motors, belts, fans, lights, or other parts of the equipment that will eventually need maintenance, repair or replacement, then yes to meet OSHA requirements we will need hand railing and/or cat-walks. 5. Page 28 (3.11.4) Mixing Room (Option). Do you require 12,000 CFM for the 8'wide x 15'long mix room, or do you mean 1,200 CFM? During booth operation (lights on) we need ~ 12,000 CFM (Down Draft air flow 8'x15'x100fpm) 6. Page 29 (3.11.6) Mixing Room (Option). Do you require HEPA and 3 stage filtration for a mix room? Three stage filtration with the third stage meeting NESHAP 319 testing criteria Questions and Answer #2 •1. What is the concrete thickness? •a. Concrete thickness varies from 8" to 14". There maybe spots that have trenched that have been filled, up to ~8 feet deep. We will try in the design phase to avoid certain areas for the pits. •2. Who test the Fire Alarm? •a. Tinker AFB Fire Department will test the fire alarm •3. Where does Tinker want the make-up air units installed? •a. The make-up air units can be installed above the paint booth or above the roof. The units DO NOT sit on the roof. The units shall sit on a structural mezzanine supported by their own columns (NOT the building columns). •b. Either way, the intake air shall come from the outside and the exhaust shall be vented outside as well (in SOW). •4. What is the height to the mezzanine? •a. I have no clue, that will be a part of the design process •5. What is below the concrete in the area? •a. Enclosed is a layout of the underground piping. The contractor is responsible for relocating any underground utilities. This includes the A&E drawings from a registered engineer from the state of Oklahoma. The paint booth located at H43 can be slid west to avoid having to relocate the underground line. If impossible to avoid rerouting the line, the paint booth shall remain in the location shown on the drawing and the line rerouted as needed. •6. What agency does Tinker operate under in regards to the Fire Protection Code? •a. Tinker operates under NFPA •7. Can the existing roof penetrations be used? •a. Yes. The existing roof penetrations can be used for this project, if the size and location work in the design for the vendor. We prefer for existing penetrations to be used. Per SOW, A&E drawings must be included and licensed roofing personnel are required. •8. Does the Government have CW drawings? •a. Yes. Layout enclosed. Chilled water temp is 55F. •9. Does Tinker have the drawings for the existing manhole locations? •a. Enclosed is a copy of the layout including underground utilities and manhole covers. •10. What is the interior booth height? •a. The interior height is 18' •11. Is the soil contaminated? •a. For this project, assume clean soil will be found. Questions and Answer #3 1. The SOW currently call for the AMU's to be roof mounted. Could they be mounted inside the building over the booths themselves or in a trapeze mount suspended from the roof so they would be located in the air adjacent to the booth at the same height as the intake plenum's are? 2. Will there be CAD drawings available with overlays for the area where the booths are to be installed? Yes, we can provide AutoCAD drawings of the floor layout. AutoCAD drawing is available upon request, please contact Joe Wilson. 3. In the location where the Option Spray Booth is to go there are rails in the flooring. Between these rails and the existing booth in the next bay there is a manhole cover. What is it covering? The manhole is covering an IWTP line, waste water line, or storm water drainage line intersection. We need to leave access to this manhole. The lines are approximately 13' down. 4. Last sentence in 3.1.5 "For painting operations the humidity must be controlled between 30% and 80%". If 30% is the required minimum, then during winter month's humidification must be added. Do you have good quality plant steam available for direct injection, or will gas fired steam generators be required as part of the equipment package? Steam is not available at this time. 5. There does not appear to be any humidity control requirement for the Scuff Booth. Is this correct. There is not a humidity control requirement to a point. We do not want it raining in the booth, that will affect the process. 6. In both booths you ask for air speed control to be at 100FPM with new filters and no less than 75FPM with 50% blockage and 65FPM at 75% blockage (reference). We would recommend use of VFD's (variable frequency drives) with pressure control and /or auto balance as this is a much better way to control air flow and accelerated heat /cool. These are minimums. The FPM can be larger than this. A VFD is acceptable. 7.What is load rating of the roof where AMU's are to be mounted The make-up air units can be installed above the paint booth or above the roof. The units DO NOT sit on the roof. The units shall sit on a structural mezzanine supported by their own columns (NOT the building columns). 8. Can the AMU be floor mount inside building? No. The make-up air units can be installed above the paint booth or above the roof. The units DO NOT sit on the roof. The units shall sit on a structural mezzanine supported by their own columns (NOT the building columns). 9. The type of air flow is not specified for the Scuff booth; from the description we have concluded that this booth is a side down draft. Is this correct? This will depend on the vendors design and what best meets our needs for the process. General guidelines for this booth are: •- If cross draft the air must pull from the sides of the booth not the door. We do not want filters on the door end. •- If Down draft, the drainage might be a issue •- If Side down draft the make- up air units will be larger and the vendor will be responsible for placement of the unit. 10. Will you be doing any painting in the Scuff Booth? No painting, alodine will be applied in this booth which contains chrome, thus the large air flow requirements. The booth needs to be like a paint booth in filtration. **CAD drawing available upon request.
