- The Department of Veterans Affairs Mid Atlantic Health Care Network (VISN 6) MIRECC (Mental Illness Research, Education and Clinical Center) is seeking potential sources to provide Research Brain Imaging Services. The NAICS code for this requirement is 621112. This is a sources sought notice only. No formal solicitation document exists at this time. Responses to this notice should include the following: Name and address of company/provider, business size (large or small); identify whether or not firm falls into any of the following socioeconomic categories 8(a), HUBZone, Service Disabled Veteran-Owned; firms experience in providing anesthesiology physician services and any other pertinent information which demonstrates firms ability to meet the requirements as outline below. The contractor must have: 1) the select level of expertise and qualifications sufficient to provide neuroimaging services, to include major instruments equivalent to a 3.0 Tesla GE EXCITE HD whole-body 60 cm bore human scanner, a 4.0 Tesla GE LX NVi whole-body 55 cm bore human scanner, a 7.0 Tesla Bruker BioSpec 33 cm bore animal scanner, behavioral testing rooms, and a mock scanner; 2) offer a variety of MR imaging techniques including high resolution structural images (T1-weighted, T2-Weighted, Proton Density), Diffusion Tensor Imaging, Perfusion Imaging, MR Spectroscopy, and a variety of functional imaging techniques (e.g., EPI, Spiral-in, Spiral-out, Spiral-in-out, SENSE, ADC, etc). In addition to the available pulse sequences, each scanning session be conducted by a RT(MR) certified technician, available for setting up protocols, running the scanner, conducting quality assurance sessions, and ensuring a safe and organized scanning environment; 3) offer a host of computer resources, including over 40 Terabytes of online data storage space, over 90 computer consoles, and the ability to meet security and system requirements to access to our Linux computing cluster. (4) Able to coordinate orbital x-rays, as a mechanism for additional safety screening for subjects who have had an injury to the eye or head; 5) accommodate de-identified data, indexed with VISN 6 MIRECC provided unique subject ID; 6) familiar with the intricacies or the VISN 6 MIRECC central mental health research study design; 7) have demonstrated through past collaborations they are prepared to immediately execute the contract with minimal modifications. 8) all technicians operating imaging equipment have current RT (MR) certifications. 9) Scanning facilities are designed to accomodate research personnel conducting tests during imaging process. 10) geographically located within 30 miles of MIRECC for proper over-sight, monitoring and close management; All responses shall be submitted in writing no later the close of business September 4, 2009, 4:30pm local time to the attention of: Caroline Peabody(90C), VAMC Hampton, 100 Emancipation Drive, Bldg. 27, Hampton, VA 23667.
