Description
Invitation to Bid - The North Texas Job Corps is requesting bids to install ceiling insulation in dormitories 5 through 10 and warehouse 309/311/313 at the center. The work shall consist of: Insulating to R38 the ceilings of the following buildings: •Dormitory 57,330 Gross Square Feet (GSF) •Dormitory 67,330 GSF •Dormitory 77,460 GSF •Dormitory 87,460 GSF •Dormitory 97,460 GSF •Dormitory 107,460 GSF The insulation shall be placed directly on the bottom member of the roof trusses over the existing insulation. The existing insulation may be re-used if it is in acceptable condition. The new insulation shall be of sufficient depth so that the combined insulation (new and existing) will provide for a minimum R value of 38. The insulation shall be batt insulation and shall be placed perpendicular to the existing insulation. The contractor shall verify that the correct depth of insulation required to ensure an R value of 38 is uniformly applied over the extent of the ceilings. Any gaps in the existing insulation shall be filled prior to installation of the new insulation. The contractor shall insure that the wire protective material utilized to support the bottom layer on insulation is whole and complete in all areas prior to the repair of the existing insulation and the installation of the new insulation. The contractor shall construct an insulated enclosure at each access point so as to maintain a complete thermal barrier. A minimum of 8” of batt insulation shall be provided on the attic side of the access door. Insulation on the attic side of the door will be installed in such a manner that it will not separate from the doors when they are opened. Any ceiling areas damaged during the insulation shall be repaired and restored to the pre-project condition. •Warehouse 0309/0311/0313 11,550 GSF floor space Install foil-backed fiberglass insulation with an R value of 30 to the underside of the exposed roof. Install the insulation with the foil side facing down to function as a radiant barrier. The foil-backed fiberglass insulation shall be installed utilizing staples attached to the rafters and retainer strips of metal mounted 4’ o.c. running perpendicular to the batts and rafters to retain the insulation to the rafters. We will be holding a pre-bid meeting and walkthrough on September 4, 2009 at 2:00pm CST, at which time all interested parties will receive a Scope of Work/Bid Package. All bids will be due on September 11, 2009 by 4:30pm CST. All bids will reflect that the contractor will conform to the latest Davis-Bacon Wage Rate decision for the area. This project is funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and all applicable provisions and clauses will apply.
