- RECOVERY ACTION: For Informational Purposes Only. This action is Work Authorization No. IF-100036-20416-09, Revision 0 (LASO # RA-09-011 and is issued under Modification A087, Management and Operating (M&O) Contract number DE-AC52-06NA25396. This action is funded by Recovery Act dollars. The M&O Contractor DUNS number is 175252894. The description of the work involved under this Work Authorization is shown below: Money provided for Robust Polymer Composite Membranes for Carbon Capture and Hydrogen Purification at Elevated Temperatures. This project aims to develop and demonstrate an innovative polymer-based membrane technology for reducing the energy intensity and the greenhouse gas effect of processes used in the chemical, fuels, and power production industries. Justification for Non-Fixed Price Type of Contract for WA* (added to description in FedBizOpps): Los Alamos National Security was selected by DOE to participate in this American Recovery Reinvestment Act (ARRA) work as part of a Laboratory-industry collaboration due to Los Alamos National Security’s expertise in the subject matter. The funds will be used to develop and demonstrate an innovative polymer-based membrane technology for reducing the energy intensity and the greenhouse gas effect of processes used in the chemical, fuels, and power production industries. The work falls within the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy work scope, which is allowed under the prime contract Section J, Appendix B. Statement of Work Section 3.4 entitled Energy Supply of the current Contract based on the following paragraph: “The Contractor shall conduct research that addresses energy supply issues by applying capabilities in the areas of exploration, reservoir modeling, integrated assessments, and environmental transport. The Contractor shall support DOE/NNSA’s efforts in the broad areas of energy efficiency, renewable energy, fossil energy, and nuclear energy.” This is a Cost-Reimbursable type contract.
