Description
1) Type of Notification: Sources Sought This is a sources sought synopsis only. The purpose of this notice is to gain knowledge of potential qualified sources. Responses to this notice shall include the following: (a) company name (b) address, (c) point of contact, (d)"number of employees" as defined by the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) part 19.101 and (e) the amount of "annual receipts" as defined by the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) part 19. In addition, the respondent must provide a capability statement that addresses the organization's qualifications and ability to perform as a prime contractor the work described below. 2) Description: Personal Services (Surgical Oncology Physician Assistant) The following is a brief summary of the primary duties that the Surgical Oncology Physician Assistant must perform. This list is not all inclusive: First assist in surgery. Directly assists the surgeon with the operation at hand. The degree of involvement varies and is under the direction of the surgeon; however common tasks include holding retractors, handing instruments, suctioning, tying sutures, and performing skin closure. Coordinate the functions of the Surgical Oncology Clinic. Manages general surgery and surgical oncology patients to include: Perform histories, physical exams, orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests, diagnoses, and treats surgical patients to include telephone contacts for result reporting and patient questions. Manages post-op care for surgical oncology patients and general surgery patients. Manages follow-up care for all patients of the Surgical Oncology Department according to established guidelines. Coordinates the care of Surgical Oncology patients with hematology/oncology and radiation/oncology. Centralizes and manages Tumor Board Registry Submissions for General Surgery Department. Presents Surgical Oncology, Patients at Tumor Board in the absence of the Surgical Oncologist. 3) Qualifications: The HCP shall meet the following qualification requirements: The HCP shall meet the following education requirements. Shall be a graduate of an accredited PA Program (a Masters Degree in Surgical Oncology preferred) and be board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Continuing Medical Education (CME). The HCP shall keep their license/registration/certification current. Required continuing education for CME shall be at no additional cost to the Government. The HCP shall provide appropriate CME documentation to the QA or designated government representatives within one month after all CME accredited events. License and Certification Verification. The HCP/ Contractor must possess and maintain an active current; valid; and unrestricted license from a US jurisdiction before practicing independently within the defined scope of practice for their specialty. License and Certification shall be specified for each Specialty. (Refer AFI-44-119). Graduation from a physician assistant education program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission for Physician Assistant Education, Inc. (ARC-PA) or its predecessors, and acceptable to the HQ USAF/SG. PAs must obtain initial certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) within 12 months of graduation. NOTE: Civilian accessions should be certified prior to entering active, or ARC duty. PAs are required to maintain NCCPA certification. Certification is maintained by meeting NCCPA continuing medical education and re-examination requirements as outlined in the NCCPA recertification process.In addition to the education requirements listed specialty PAs must complete residency or fellowship training of 12 months or more in a medical specialty program acceptable to the HQ USAF/SG. The HCP shall have and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. 4) Place of Performance: These services would be performed at Wilford Hall Medical Center and/or military installations in San Antonio, TX. The applicable Federal Supply Schedule area coverage must include the state of Texas for authorized performance area.
