- Description
- NASA/GSFC has a requirement for a laser frequency doubling module which enables532nm light resulting from doubling the existing Coherent Verdi laser into 266nmultraviolet light. The following items are required:Qty. (1) MBD266 SystemQty. (1) Variable Attenuator, MBD266 Verdi V18 PumpNASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from Coherent Laser Group. The unit to beprocured must be compatible with the existing doubled Coherent Verdi 18W laser. Only thisunit can be installed and used with the existing laser system and produce the requireddoubling efficiency into the ultraviolet from the visible. This recommendation is made pursuant to FAR 13.106, for the acquisition of supplies orservices determined to be reasonably available from only one source.All contractual and technical questions must be submitted in writing via e-mail tokeva.r.crossen@nasa.gov no later than September 2, 2009 or via facsimile 301-286-5373.The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local timeon September 4, 2009. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determiningwhether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by theGovernment not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis,based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
