Description
This is a notice of intent, not a request for a proposal. A solicitation document will not be issued and proposals will not be requested. National Institute on Drug Abuse, Station Support/Simplified Acquisition, Office of Acquisitions- Neurosciences, on behalf of the National Institute on Aging (NIA) intends to negotiate and award a purchase order on a non-competitive basis to Covaris, Inc,. 14 Gill Street, Unit H, Woburn, MA 01801-1721 for (1) High Performance Sample Preparation Instrument to include computer with required recirculating chiller, E-Series DNA Kit24 [to include (1) 500111 Rack, (4) 5200454 (6x16mm) 100ul Tube with AFA Fiber & Snap-Caps (100 count total), (1) 500141 Intensifier for E-Series, and (1) 500142 Prepstation for loading the microtube 520045]; and Installation and on-site training. The NIA currently has a project analyzing the genetic causes of neurodegenerative disease and of aging. The NIA seeks to use the DNA shearing available from Covaris, Inc. in order to continue the project. The NIA currently uses a Solexa GA analyzer for sequencing the samples. The acquisition is being conducted using FAR part 13.106-1(b)(1) procedures and is exempt from the requirements of FAR part 6, competition requirements. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this synopsis. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government.
