- The Bureau of Indian Education, Haskell Indian Nations University located in Lawrence Kansas is seeking a contractor to perform work to serve as the Museum Curator for Haskell Indian Nations University. Contractor will be responsible or management of museum operations, ordering supplies, maintaining inventory and system controls, coordinate work for student interns, implement marketing activities to increase visitors, enforce policies and procedures, and develop and update museum collections database. Contractor must have knowledge in compliance and regulatory procedures related to artifacts and museum collections. Statement of work A.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Project Requirements: Contactor must have significant experience in the area of administration and management of museum operations, which includes: ordering supplies, maintaining inventory and system controls, coordinating work for student interns, implementing marketing activities to increase visitors, enforcing policies and procedures, developing and updating museum collections database, developing exhibit for 125th commemoration virtual exhibit, and must have knowledge in compliance and regulatory procedures related to artifacts and museum collections. Contractor must possess Master's Degree or higher in Museum Studies and must have a minimum of ten years experience in administration and management or extensive work experience in museum collections. Contractor must have knowledge in museum and archive's best practices and standards in compliance with the American Association of Museums and the Society of American Archivists. Contractor must have knowledge and experience in NAGPRA federal legislation and responsibilities. Contractor must have the ability to operate museum and archive databases. Contractor must have skills in analyzing problems and finding solutions; planning and organizing work in the museum, working independently, communicating effectively both orally and written. Contractor must be available to work weekends, evenings, and as needed to allow for review of operations of preparation and delivery of services for the students at Haskell Indian Nations University located in Lawrence, Kansas and the general public. The Contractor will be require to have a background security investigation. Period of performance: oEstimate beginning date is September, 2009 through December 31, 2009 The magnitude of estimate is between 15K and 20K Interested parties are encouraged to contact this office via email to jbegay@haskell.edu no later than COB on September 4, 2009 12pm noon.
