- Description
- RECOVERY--RECOVERY- PER FAR 5.7 THIS NOTICE IS PROVIDED FOR INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY. THIS OPPORTUNITY IS AVAILABLE ONLY TO CONTRACTOR UNDER AECOM, Inc. (DUNS 085963908) Contract No. W912WJ-07-D-0002 Provide Professional Services in Support of the Dredged Material Management Program. The U.S Army Corps of Engineers, New England District is soliciting the existing contractor; AECOM, Inc. The contractor will, in coordination with the New England District, research available background information on the CAD cells in Hyannis, Providence, New London, and Norwalk. Background information will consist of locations, history, volume placed, capping efforts, and any existing surveys. The contractor will conduct multi-beam bathymetric surveys over the CAD cells in Hyannis, Providence, New London, and Norwalk in order to document depths in and around the CAD cells. Surveys will be compared to any existing prior surveys to assess changes in morphology. The contractor will conduct sediment profile imaging (SPI) surveys in the CAD cells in Hyannis, Providence, New London, and Norwalk in order to determine the status of the marine benthos relative to reference conditions. Sixty (60) survey stations, within CAD cells, will be distributed among all sites. The contractor will also survey two reference locations for each harbor, adding an additional 40 SPI stations. Recommended station locations will be coordinated with the DAMOS Program Managers prior to commencement of field work. The contractor will conduct video transects over CADs in Hyannis, Providence (2 cells), New London, and Norwalk (2 cells). These video transects will be used to document presence and relative abundance of marine organism use of the CAD cells. An average of two transects per CAD cell will be conducted. During the data collection phase the contractor is to anticipate that documentation of the video transects will involve a running inventory of organisms observed (identified to species or family whenever possible), relative sizes, and abundance. The video transect data will be annotated with biological and physical characteristics. DAMOS contribution #168, Appendix A should be used as a basis for this format. Actual annotation will be done under a separate, future effort, but the field notes should be taken with that future effort in mind. A minimum of two transects outside of the CAD cells should be conducted for reference in each harbor of office and field activities necessary to maintain support of the New England District (NAE) mission in terms of dredging and open water disposal..
