Description

THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. This is a notice of intent to award a sole source contract in accordance to FAR 6.302-1(a)(2), authorized or required by statue. The Pathology & Laboratory Service at the Providence VA Medical Center requires the use of Blood Components and Services. Under statue10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) Providence VA Medical Center intends to make a sole source award of this requirement to the RI Blood Center. The proposed contract action is for monthly and emergency requirements to support patients in need of Blood Components and Services. The RI Blood Center is the only known source in the State of RI and proximity to the VA Medical Center. There is no other Blood Bank in the State of RI to support veterans requiring these specialized items and services. The Government intends to award to only one source RI Blood Center under the authority of FAR 6.302-1(a)(2). This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No solicitation document is available.
