- Description
- For Informational Purposes Only. The Management & Operating (M&O) Contractor DUNS number is 175252894. The description of the work involved under this Work Authorization is shown below: Conduct Ac-225 development and the Principle Investigator is Kevin John; investigate Gd-148 production from Los Alamos Neutron Science Center (LANSCE) 1L targets and the Principle Investigator is Jason Kitten. NOTE: This action is awarded under Modification no. A092 that recognizes Work Authorization no. ST/AL03/9/ARRA-1, Rev. 02 (LASO # RA-09-016) issued under M&O Contract number DE-AC52-06NA25396. This action is funded by Recovery Act dollars. Justification for Non-Fixed Price Type of Contract for WA* (added to description in FedBizOpps): LANS was selected by DOE to participate in this ARRA work due to LANL’s expertise in the subject matter. The funds will support investigation into development of production of Ac-225 as a result of target irradiation at 100 MeV at the LANSCE Isotope Production facility, and also whether Gd-148 can be effectively extracted from the LANSCE 1L target. The work now falls within the Nuclear Physics Program of the Office of Science, which is allowed under the prime contract Section J, Appendix B. Statement of Work Section 3.3 entitled High Energy and Nuclear Physics of the current Contract based on the following paragraph: “The Contractor shall conduct high energy and nuclear physics research involving experimental and theoretical programs in nuclear and particle physics.” This is a Cost-Reimbursable type contract.
