Description

THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. This is a notice of intent to award a sole source contract in accordance to FAR 6.302-1(a)(2), authorized or required by statue. The Ophthalmology Section at the Providence VA Medical Center requires upgrading the software maintenance/forceps for the EYESi Surgical Training Simulator equipment currently in use. The Gold Maintenance Software and Forceps will be used in conjunction with the existing EYESi equipment purchased in 2007. Under statue 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) Providence VA Medical Center intends to make a sole source award of this requirement to VRmagic Inc. The proposed contract action is for the Gold Maintenance software upgrade w/forceps which is proprietary to VRmagic Inc. and will improve the experience for residents using the EYESi Surgical Training Simulator treating Veterans. VRmagic Inc. is the sole source manufacturer and does not distribute their software upgrade packages. The Government intends to award to only one source VRmagic Inc. under the authority of FAR 6.302-1(a)(2). This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. No solicitation document is available.
