- Description
- NNH09ZTT004N, entitled, " Research Opportunities for Flight Experiments in SpaceLife Sciences: Biological Research In Canisters for Arabidopsis thaliana," will beavailable on or about September 11, 2009, by opening the NASA Research Opportunitieshomepage at http://nspires.nasaprs.com/ and then linking through the menu listings"Solicitations" to "Open Solicitations." This NASA Research Announcement (NRA) solicits research proposals for space flightexperiments in Space Life Sciences for participation in a single flight opportunity usingArabidopsis thaliana. Proposals must include appropriate previous ground researchdata/results that show why a flight experiment is justified. Proposals submitted to thisNRA are restricted to space flight experiments that propose to use Arabidopsis thalianawithin the Biological Research In Canisters- Light Emitting Diode (BRIC-LED) hardware. Proposals for purely ground-based research will not be accepted or considered for thisNRA. Flight proposals should be supported by a foundation of ground-based data orprevious flight data.Proposals are due on November 12, 2009. Proposals are required to be submittedelectronically and must be submitted by an authorized official of the proposingorganization. Participation is open to all categories of organizations, including educationalinstitutions, industry, nonprofit organizations, NASA centers, and other Governmentagencies. Electronic proposals may be submitted via the NASA centers, and otherGovernment agencies. Electronic proposals must be submitted via the NASA Proposal datasystem NSPIRES. Every organization that intends to submit a proposal in response to thisNRA must be registered with NSPIRES, and such registration must identify the authorizedorganizational representative(s) who will submit the electronic proposal. The NSPIRESsystem places requirements on the registration of principal investigators and otherparticipants (e.g. co-investigators). Potential proposers and proposing organizations areurged to access the system well in advance of the proposal due date to familiarizethemselves with its structure and enter the requested information. Questions concerningresponding to this NRA may be addressed to the contacts referenced in the fullsolicitation document. This is a broad agency announcement as specified in FAR 6.102 (d)(2). Notwithstanding theposting of this opportunity at FedBizOpps.gov, nspires.nasaprs.com, or Grants.gov, NASAreserves the right to determine the appropriate award instrument for each proposalselected pursuant to this announcement.
