- Description
- The Air Force Special Operation Command (AFSOC) is in the process of determining the training acquisition strategy for a potential requirement for obtaining a FAA certified Type rating in a Dornier 328 Turbo Prop (TP) within and outside of the Continental United States. The estimated contract performance period would commence 1 November 2009 with the anticipation of a one (1) year effort with the capability to produce 36-38 Do 328 TP FAA type rated pilots at a maximum rate of 4-6 pilots monthly as mission requirements dictates. Performance Requirements: Furnish Dornier 328 TP courseware and associated full-motion level C simulator training to meet the requirements to obtain a Dornier 328 TP FAA type rating. Contractor shall produce/provide retainable courseware consistent with current industry standards for this class of aircraft. Subject matter will be presented via a Dornier 328 TP type rated subject matter expert in text, graphic, audio-video and computer-aided formats where appropriate. Professionally-developed hard paper copy and digital copy (computer disk) handouts will be provided. Handouts will include subject matter meeting or exceeding the subject knowledge requirements of the FAA Practical Test Standards (PTS) for Type Rating (FAA-S-8081-5E). Subjects will include, but will not be limited to: aircraft design philosophy, aircraft systems and systems operation, aircraft performance, limitations, capability, loading criteria, normal and emergency procedures and field servicing. Provide pilots/aircrew with training courses consisting of ground and full motion simulator flight training. Ground Training shall include classroom instruction of courseware and training for a Dornier 328 TP. Each student will receive sufficient full motion (level C or better) simulator flight training to allow them to meet FAA standards and provide the ability for qualified AFSOC Dornier 328 TP pilots/aircrew to evaluate/fly the Dornier 328 TP with the purpose of refining the Syllabus of Instruction (SOI), developing Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTP), and to instruct additional AFSOC pilots. A Dornier 328 TP full-motion (level C or better, ie level D) flight simulator is required to perform pilot training for pilots/aircrew to determine specific requirements and validation of training provided for future requirements.
