- To meet current Naval Postgraduate School research and operational network initiatives, the University must connect its high speed networking infrastructure with its networking research institutions and partners through the non-profit Corporation for Educational Networks In California (CENIC) and the California Research Education Networks (CALREN) educational networks according to our current contractual obligations with CENIC, our strategic research network provider. Through CENIC, the unique network provider that connects the top research universities locally and throughout the US with unprecendented research capabilities and alliances amongst its members (including Caltech, Stanford, 9 UC campuses, the Pacific Rim, and the National Educational and Research Internet2 Membership), NPS plans to connect its CENIC Digital Commodity Network Connection its Point Mugu campus location at 1 Gbps in order to better collaborate with the main campus in Monterey and other key CEN! IC/I2 universities and meet current NPS strategic plan research and teaching initiatives. This especially applies to more tightly integrating IT initiatives from campus satellite locations to the main campus.
