Description
This procurement is for the repair of hangar doors locatedon the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in Fort Worth,Texas.The base bid (CLIN 0001) includes the work required toretrofit the hangar doors and make them operational. Alldrive components such as motors, drive gears and controlswill be replaced. Door operational safety features,construction for a weather-tight installation, and minorlead abatement and painting required to perform the workare also included in this base bid item. A temporary tunnelis provided to allow the Marines to maintain operations.The first option item (CLIN 0002) includes the workrequired to provide a tail aperture in the hangar doors.The aperture was requested by the Marines to allow a C-130aircraft to be kept in Hangar 1050 with the doors closed.The aperture will consist of a framed opening in theexisting hangar doors that will accommodate the tailfuselage of a C-130 and a manually operated set ofhorizontal-sliding doors to close the opening when not inuse.The second option item (CLIN 0003) includes the workrequired to replace the existing glass glazing in thehangar doors and in the process remove the existingasbestos-containing glazing putty.The third option item (CLIN 0004) includes the workrequired to abate the existing loose lead-based paint fromthe hangar doors and re-paint the interior and exteriordoor surfaces.This contract action was accomplished using other thancompetitive procedures because a statute exists thatexpressly authorizes or requires that the acquisition bemade from a specific source (FAR 6.302-5(b) (4);specifically a sole source award under the 8(a) program.Per FAR 6.302-5 a J&A is not required for this award.
