- Description
- Project work is being conducted under Section 206 Authorization, Aquatic Ecosystem Restoration, for Stevenson Creek, Clearwater, Florida. Major elements of work include dredging, material separation, dewatering of muck material, transportation, upland disposal, and construction of mangrove creation areas. Dredge element includes dredging approximately 61,000 cubic yards of material from Stevenson Creek Estuary Reach 1 to a depth limit of -4.3 feet NAVD plus 0.5 foot allowable over depth, and dredge approximately 33,000 cubic yards of material from Estuary Reach 2 to a depth limit of -3.3 feet NAVD plus 0.5 foot allowable over depth. Material separation and dewatering element includes construction of dewatering site, and execution of operational process to separate sand and muck, and to dewater muck. Develop, maintain and restore 2 acre process and storage area. Transportation and Upland Disposal Element includes storage and transportation operations to handle sand, and haul dewatered muck to upland site located approximately 20 miles northeast of project site in Hillsborough County, Florida. Place material uniformly over approximated 25-acres of pastureland. Mangrove Creation area element includes construction of three, mangrove areas totaling 15,488 square yards of plantable surface utilizing clean sand from separation process. Transport excess sand to City of Clearwater Maintenance Yard located 5 miles from project site. Work also includes turbidity monitoring, Elutriate Toxicity Testing, Vibration Control Monitoring, and incidental related work. Performance Period is 270 calendar days.
