Description
The VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System intends to issue a sole source procurement toBoston Scientific Corporation under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. This procurement is to obtain the iLab Cart Imaging System which is an ultrasound imaging system. Due to the complexity of the Elecrophysiology procedures, the current ultrasound can be in use for over 6 hours. In order to provide adequate and safe patient care a second ultrasound is being purchased and must be interchangeable with the existing system. This system provides for enhanced image quality with dynamic review; intravascular ultrasound with intra-cardiac echo; automatic pullback device; automatic trace assist and point of interest markers. System must have the capability to download to existing Siemens archiving system. It is the belief of the Government that there is currently only one responsible source capable of providing this equipment to satisfy the agency requirement. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed procurement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. This is not a request for competitive quotes; however, any firm that believes it can meet the requirements may give written notification, accompanied by supporting evidence in sufficient detail to demonstrate the ability to comply with the above requirements, to the Contracting Officer by 4:00 PM on 9/29/09. All responses must be in writing via e-mail to Cheryl.Weidner@med.va.gov. If no responses are received, VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System will proceed with the sole source procurement from Boston Scientific.
