Description
General There are three vertical turbine-type sump pumping units at Pumping Plant B2.1 located south of Farmington, New Mexico, at Navajo Agricultural Products Industry (NAPI) that are leaking oil and water up through the column and out through the tension bearing. The pumps are Verti-Line. The capacity of pump #2 is 5570 gpm rated at 170TDH. The capacity of pumps #4 and #5 are 1472 gpm rated at 170 TDH. There is a top, intermediate and bottom column. All work (including installation) on the pumps shall be completed by February 15, 2010. Contractor shall provide all equipment, materials and labor necessary to perform the work in this work statement. Pumps cannot be removed until November 1, 2009. A pre-award tour will not be held. If a contractor would like to tour the site, please contact Emma Manzanares at 505/324-5017 to arrange for a tour. The Four Corners Construction Office (FCCO) will conduct multiple shop inspections during the disassembly, inspection and rebuilding/repairing of the pumps. The contractor shall give the government 5 working days notice prior to shop inspection. If contractor's location for doing the pump work is greater than 50 miles from Farmington, NM, any travel costs for on-site inspection will be weighed against the contractor's quote. The actual inspection time will not be included in the travel time. A minimum of 5 inspections per pump will be conducted for a total of 15 inspections. These 15 inspections will not be consecutive days.The following factor will be weighed against the contractor's quote for each inspection: A. Shop where the pumps are being rebuilt is located is less than 51 miles from Farmington, NMNo inspection factor will be weighed against the contractor B. Shop where the pumps are being rebuilt is located between 51 and 250 miles from Farmington, NM.1 travel day for two inspectors - $1600.00Mileage will be calculated at $0.55/mile (starting at mile 51)Average per diem rate for two inspectors for 1 day - $240.00 C. Shop where the pumps are being rebuilt is located greater than 250 miles from Farmington, NM2 travel days for 2 inspectors - $3200.00Mileage will be calculated at $0.55/mile (starting at mile 51)Average per diem rate for two inspectors for two days - $480.00 1. The contractor shall remove three vertical turbine-type sump pumps. The contractor shall provide all labor, equipment and materials required to remove the pumps. There are roof hatches that an overhead crane can utilize to remove the pumps. The contractor shall provide all equipment/apparatuses to remove the motors and pumps. a.Pump components shall be match marked prior to disassembly in the field and in the shop. b.Contractor shall be responsible for removing and reinstalling all equipment necessary for the removal and reinstallation of the pumps including motors, valves, pipe, sleeves, flanges, couplings, etc. necessary to perform the work, including disconnecting and terminating the electrical connections. 2. After the pumps have been removed, they shall be taken to a machine shop. No work with the exception of the removal and reinstallation of the pumps shall be done at B2.1 Pumping Plant. 3. The contractor shall tear down, inspect and provide a report to FCCO on the cause of the oil/water leak and how to stop the leak. The report shall include a quote on how to repair and stop the oil/water leak. No work shall commence until the FCCO has inspected the pumps after tear down. There will be water in the canal on approximately, March 15, 2010 and pumps will be started after this date. The contractor shall be present during the start up of the pumps and shall monitor the oil/water leaks. If any leaks are present, the contractor shall remove the pumps and repair them until all leaks have stopped. The additional work shall be done at the contractor's expense.
